From 26.05.2017 to 06 January this year, visitors to the Dorotheenhütte in Wolfach were once again spoilt for choice: 14 different clocks were on display there in the exhibition of the “Black Forest Clock Association”. The Black Forest Clock of the Year 2017 was sought, and a total of 100,00 visitors were able to take a look at the masterpieces up for election during this time.

Winning clock “Zum Kuckuck” by August Schwer

In the end, an elaborately designed chalet clock from the house of August Schwer prevailed in the public vote: The model inspires with numerous technical refinements, which bring a lively and detailed Black Forest scenery to life. The dancing village youth, farmers enjoying their after-work beer as well as the evenly rotating mill wheel: one feels transported to a wonderful Black Forest summer.

The other places were taken by watches from Hönes (2nd place) and Hekas. The next election for the Black Forest Clock of the Year is already in the starting blocks: This year, it will be exhibited at Europa-Park Rust. The interest of the Rust amusement park shows that the election of the cuckoo clock of the year is an important one, said Ingolf Haas chairman of the association the Black Forest Clock.
